PORTLAND, Oregon – You’re in the heart of the city on a warm, sun-filled evening. It’s First Thursday, and you’ve taken in arts and culture throughout downtown and the Pearl. The night is yours. Do you grab a bite? Catch a concert? Go to a networking event? Play with your kids? Luckily, you don’t have to choose. You can do it all—at Sundown Concerts at Ecotrust.

Sundown is quintessential summer in Portland—equal parts indie concert, block party, and classic Portland street fair. Now in its sixth year, for the first time, Sundown Concerts will align with First Thursdays, a 31-year-old tradition when downtown art galleries open their doors and the streets come alive with people. Join us this summer on July 2, August 6, and September 3, starting at 5:30 pm, at the Ecotrust Natural Capital Center.

“For five years, Sundown has been Ecotrust’s contribution to arts and culture,” says Jeanne Kubal, Ecotrust’s Sundown producer. “It feels natural to build on the lively history and cultural spirit of this neighborhood tradition.”

The band lineups will be announced in June, and concert-goers can expect the best of the city. Past bands have included: the Portland Cello Project, Magic Mouth, Alela Diane, Radiation City, Genders, Typhoon, Lost Lander, Brainstorm, Wild Ones, Y La Bamba, The Builders and the Butchers, Holcombe Waller, Laura Gibson, Grandparents, AU, The Dimes, Vagabond Opera, Stolen Sweets, and Loveness Wesa and the Bantus.

Loving where you live is understanding where your food, water, wood, and energy come from. Each night will focus on a theme, with 80-plus businesses and organizations, as well as Ecotrust staff, sharing the latest green innovations and approaches in the Innovation Showcase. The showcase creates a friendly, unique setting for the public to talk with some of the most inspiring and ground-breaking people working in our region.

Environmental impact is considered in every planning decision: Sundown Concerts feature free tap water drinking stations, a compostable-only policy on food and beverage wares, a free bike valet station, a solar/biodiesel/wind power source, and an aggressive recycling and composting plan.

Plus, the little rockers will find lots to keep them entertained, thanks to a kid’s station run by Northwest Kid’s Calendar. And concert-goers will find local eats and frosty beverages from Laughing Planet and Hotlips Pizza.
