Alisha Howard

As the Community Outreach Coordinator, it is my job to coordinate, and implement community outreach and engagement strategies across programs to advance community-led 3E (Equity, Economy, Environment) efforts. My work helps build the confidence and capacity of farmers and food entrepreneurs of color to access and thrive in new markets including farm to school; enable communities of color to equitably steward land and acquire capital and assets; and support the leadership of Black, Indigenous, Latine, Asian, Pacific Islander, and other people of color in the food system. Prior to joining the Ecotrust team, I was a part of the inaugural cohort of the Viviane Barnett Fellowship for Food Systems Leaders.

Outside of Ecotrust, I am the owner and operator of a vermicomposting practice called Deep Rootz Worms, LLC. I’m an Executive Board member of Portland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated where I chair the property management committee and supports the management of the June Key Delta Community Center. I also serve on the Board of Directors for HOLLA Mentors and Black Food Sovereignty Coalition. I am passionate about and invested in the liberation of Black people through food, climate, and land justice.
