Consultant for Climate-Smart Agriculture

Ecotrust seeks a program consultant to support its three-year Equity in Urban Ag project.

As a part of this engagement with Ecotrust, the consultant will:

● Provide a detailed scope of work and staffing plan for this work following a scoping meeting with Ecotrust team

● Meet with the project’s two program managers up to two times a month (hybrid, in person and/or virtual) to support the development of and planning of workshops and technical assistance

● Provide at least 60 urban farmers with culturally-relevant technical assistance on climate friendly farming practices

● Work closely with the Equity in Urban Ag project team to develop and co-lead at least 6 climate-smart workshops. The workshops will be held in person, in the Portland metro area, and scheduled in 2025-2026 outside of the growing season (during the months of Jan-Mar & Oct-Dec). In early 2025, Ecotrust will host community listening sessions to inform the development of these workshops.

WHO WE ARE

At Ecotrust, we work in partnership from California to Alaska toward the vision of a more just, prosperous, and climate-smart future. Across more than 30 projects and with hundreds of partners, our approach focuses on impact at the intersections of equity, the economy, and the environment. Together, we uplift Indigenous leadership to respond to contemporary lands and water management challenges, connect schools with local producers, provide technical support for community-centered businesses, and more. We welcome you to join us in the pursuit of radical, practical change.

COVID-19 Response

Ecotrust recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately negative impacts on Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrants, parents, caregivers, frontline workers, and others. While this is a full time position, Ecotrust offers the flexibility necessary to manage COVID-19 constraints including flexible schedules, working remotely, and use of paid sick leave for caregivers and those directly affected by COVID-19. Ecotrust recognizes these are unprecedented times and wants to remove any barriers that would prevent anyone disproportionately affected by the pandemic from applying.
