Call for nominations: Indigenous Leadership Awards

This Call for Nominations invites individuals, families, colleagues, tribes, First Nations, and Alaska Native villages and corporations to nominate Indigenous leaders making a difference in their community and beyond. Six Indigenous leaders selected by a panel consisting of past ILA recipients will receive a total of $60,000 in unrestricted cash prizes. Recipients will be announced in spring 2025. The unrestricted nature of the monetary awards offers the awardees flexibility to advance their work. The nomination period for the 2025 Indigenous Leadership Awards is open now through May 4th.
  • Areas of Focus
    Nominees are eligible if they are currently working in any of the following areas:
    -Protecting tribal sovereignty;
    -Mentoring and sharing traditional knowledge and values;
    -Strengthening tribal governance;
    -Improving Indigenous lands and waters
    -Indigenous-led stewardship;
    -Revitalizing Indigenous languages and cultures;
    -Salmon protection;
    -Climate action;
    -Murdered & missing Indigenous women (MMIW)
    -Creating economic opportunity or empowerment;
    -Strengthening Indigenous food sovereignty;
    -Supporting Native youth leadership;
    -Nurturing spiritual, emotional, and physical health and wellness;
    -Advancing Indigenous education;
    -Advocating for transformative policy.
