David practiced law for 15 years, with a focus on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) first with Skadden Arps, then with Jones Day. Between his time as an attorney at these two prestigious firms, David was the Co-Founder and COO for a biotech start-up called Biotrue Inc., which developed an innovative, clinically validated data management solution for researchers. In his legal career, David represented clients in the software, semiconductor, life sciences, and other advanced technology sectors. He specialized in transactions with cross-border aspects and complex regulatory issues. He also served as a trial attorney in the civil rights division of the U.S. Department of Justice. While living in San Francisco, he was a founding member of the San Francisco Community Woodshop and spent 10 years as a Board Member (secretary and interim treasurer) for the Homeless Prenatal Program. He is currently a Trustee and finance committee member of the Portland Community College Foundation (the largest post-secondary educational institution in Oregon). David has a BA in Public Policy from Duke University, and a JD from Stanford University (’94).
