Pioneering organic chef Nora Pouillon shares memoir, My Organic Life, over a great meal
Release Date: 04-30-2015

WHAT: Join Nostrana and Ecotrust for a meal on May 6th with honored guest, chef Nora Pouillon. Nora joins us two weeks after her memoir, My Organic Life, was released by Alfred A. Knopf. In her memoir, Nora outlines her lifelong exploration of food, from the farm fields of Austria through the markets of France to her own rise as a groundbreaking chef in Washington DC, committed to organic agriculture and farmers’ wellbeing at a time when few restaurant-goers were thinking past the rims of their cocktail glasses. On May 6th, Nostrana will feature special flights from Nora’s son’s winery, Domaine Pouillon in nearby Lyle, WA, and chef Cathy Whim’s riffs on Nora’s signature recipes. Visitors will order a la carte, but have the opportunity to engage Nora in conversation and purchase signed books.

WHO: Nora Pouillon is a pioneer and champion of organic, environmentally conscious cuisine. She opened Restaurant Nora in 1979 and worked with farmers to supply the restaurant with seasonal organic produce. In 1999, Restaurant Nora became the first certified organic restaurant in the United States, a feat accomplished by few since.
