Maia Larson

Director of Community Food Systems & Capital

As the Director of Community Food Systems & Capital at Ecotrust, I help design and implement programming that builds intergenerational wealth in our region’s communities. I have spent the last 10ish years working at the intersection of community and economic development, agriculture and finance. I grew up in and around Detroit, Mich. where I developed my passion for building equitable, thriving economies… and my love of lakes, bike rides, and Detroit-style pizza (have you tried it?). I currently live and work on the land of the Kalapuya people with my husband and our furry friends.

In this 202 blog post, Maia, a farmer herself, shares views from various community members and offers a list of resources for the agricultural communities suffering from the effects of an historic, severe wildfire season.

Maia interviews Jared Gardner, an Ag of the Middle Accelerator participant, about his experience navigating cash flow. Jared and his family run a grass-fed and finished beef operation called Nehalem River Ranch, just inland from Oregon’s North coast.
