PORTLAND, Ore. – September 1, 2015 – Ecotrust, which is developing a new urban campus in Portland’s Central Eastside dedicated to nurturing a robust regional food economy, today announced availability of 20,000 square feet of move-in-ready and build-to-suit retail, industrial and office space.
One of two buildings that make up The Redd on Salmon Street campus at the corner of Salmon and 7th Avenue, The Marble building, includes ample warehouse space for on-site dry and refrigerated storage and built-in last-mile logistics, both managed by future tenant B-Line Sustainable Urban Delivery. The infrastructure, along with ancillary services, such as marketing and quality assurance that are anticipated to operate from The Redd campus, provides efficient access to retail and institutional markets from the heart of Portland’s evolving Central Eastside.
Space available at competitive market rates includes: a highly visible storefront location with up to 10,000 square feet for restaurant or related business; unobstructed warehouse floor space with 24-foot ceilings, overhead crane, ample loading areas, and bay doors; and production and office space for food-related businesses ranging from 1,400 to 19,900 square feet.
Hired to manage the initiative is Sydney DeLuna, who joined Ecotrust from Bon Appétit Management where she was general manager of food service at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Responsible for the greater 80,000-square-foot ecosystem of The Redd campus, DeLuna will focus on tenant recruitment and on-campus collaboration, including public events and collaboration between tenants and the rural producers also utilizing the space. Ultimately the project is designed to facilitate the success of local and regional food producers and related enterprises by connecting farmers, ranchers and fishermen to wholesale and institutional buyers.
“Sydney brings an operator’s perspective and the ability to bridge from The Redd as a concept to The Redd as a reality,” said Nathan Kadish, director of investment strategy at Ecotrust. “She is 100% focused on the needs of producers and makers, making connections and helping them gain access to infrastructure they need to succeed.”
In addition to The Marble, The Redd campus includes The Foundry, a 1918 former ironworks, purchased by Ecotrust earlier this year. Together the buildings compose a two-block, 80,000-square-foot food production and distribution campus designed to serve as a kitchen for the Pacific Northwest conservation economy. Ecotrust expects to begin renovation of its Foundry building this fall for occupation in fall 2016.
