Leadership and leadership development have been foundational pillars of Ecotrust since its founding in 1991. As an organizer and storyteller, my role is to recognize and honor Indigenous leadership and leaders, and help empower continuing, emerging, and future leaders in their work. Adjacent to this is a deep commitment to helping others understand Indigenous communities and the tribes’ significant contributions to American culture. Prior to joining Ecotrust in 2018, I worked in the museum field for over 30 years.
In this 2022 blog post, Lisa talks about Ecotrust’s decision to replace a land acknowledgement with a call to action — naming powerful actions to take in allyship with Native communities.
