Maggie Sanders

My role as the Indigenous Leadership Program Director is focused on advancing Ecotrust’s mission by supporting Ecotrust programs working with American Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages, and First Nations. My role will support Ecotrust in being a partner that provides technical assistance and resources, identifies opportunities, and builds capacity for Indigenous governments in the areas of conservation, climate resilience, economic development, and relationship building. In addition, I will also lead the Indigenous Leadership Award program, a year-round program whose focus is to celebrate and uplift Indigenous Leadership in our bioregion from California to Alaska. I am a member of the Makah Tribe and dedicated my career to public service and tribes. I was recently elected to serve as a Port of Olympia Commissioner.
