Ecotrust today purchased a 26,000-square-foot warehouse and showroom at 1140 SE 7th Avenue in Portland. The property sits adjacent to its recent property acquisition at 831 SE Salmon Street. Together, the two buildings will comprise a Central Eastside campus that will act as a working hub for the regional food economy. The project has been titled “The Redd on Salmon Street.”
The Redd campus will support authentic regional food related enterprises in Portland, connecting them to the rich producers in surrounding farmlands. It will also focus on how to scale a robust regional food economy across the Pacific Northwest.
The new acquisition on SE 7th brings enabling infrastructure for last mile logistics (aggregation, warehousing, and distribution) to the Redd campus, including dock-high loading doors, warehousing space that will include cold storage, processing/maker spaces, and ancillary office and retail space. This building could open as early as August 2015.
The adjacent property at 831 SE Salmon Street—a 1918 industrial warehouse and iron works building—is under redevelopment as mixed-use space designed to enable regional food production. It is scheduled to open in Fall 2016. The plan for the 40,000-square-foot eastern block includes the restoration of the existing 16,000-square-foot building and the redevelopment of a 20,000-square-foot fully landscaped parking lot and outdoor space, which sits between the two buildings.
In total, both structures will provide 80,000 square feet of last mile logistics (aggregation, warehousing, and distribution), processing, ancillary office and retail, education, and event spaces.
